The Liu Deshao 刘德邵

Paul Peng
Liu Deshao (1263-1350) was a native of Lishui (now part of Zhejiang Province) during the Yuan Dynasty. His courtesy name was Yunxin.

In his youth, he became a Taoist priest at Miaocheng Guan (Miaocheng Temple). He diligently practiced Taoist arts; his rituals for praying and exorcising evil (to ward off misfortunes) were often efficacious.

On a daily basis, he helped people and benefited all living beings, and he owned no personal wealth beyond his basic needs. As a result, his reputation and status in the Taoist community grew steadily over time.

He passed away due to illness in the 10th year of the Zhizheng reign period of Emperor Huizong of the Yuan Dynasty, at the age of 88.
