The Liu Fang 刘方
Paul PengShare
Liu Fang was a native of Biandu (present-day Kaifeng City, Henan Province) in the early Northern Song Dynasty.
In the early years of the Jianlong era (960 AD), he built a small retreat named Xiaodanqiu by himself and lived in seclusion there.

As recorded in The Complete Book of the Eye Ancestor: Liu Fang met Lü Dongbin (a famous immortal in Chinese Taoism) in a tavern. After hearing Lü Dongbin talk about ancient virtuous scholars and matters concerning the rise and fall of dynasties, Liu Fang bowed and sought to become his disciple, and was thus taught the secret method of internal alchemy.
After Lü Dongbin left, Liu Fang immediately went into seclusion in the remote mountains and diligently practiced Taoist techniques.
