The Liu Fangying
Paul PengShare
Liu Fangying lived in the mid-to-late Tang Dynasty.
He was registered as a Taoist priest at Mount Tiantai.

He was diligent in cultivating ascetic purity and had completed the study and reception of Taoist ritual registers (daofa lu) from an early age. He often used danlu (Taoist cinnabar talismans/registers, believed to carry spiritual power) to help people.
He once went to Gexi in Yiyang, where he smelted steel and forged swords in accordance with the methods of Celestial Master Zhang. He also inscribed talismans to "restrict" water (a Taoist ritual to purify or imbue water with healing power) and cured a great many patients.
He passed away from illness during the Xiantong era of Emperor Yizong of the Tang Dynasty (860–874).
