The Liu Shikuan 刘士宽
Paul PengShare
Liu Shikuan was a native of Jiangxi Province during the Ming Dynasty.
As recorded in Yunnan Tongzhi (Gazetteer of Yunnan), he became blind due to an eye illness from childhood. At the age of eighteen, he encountered a Daoist priest who cured his blindness using the "golden needle technique" (a traditional Chinese medical method involving fine needles). Thereafter, Liu Shikuan took the Daoist priest as his teacher.

The Daoist priest imparted all his medical techniques and the method of "nourishing vital energy (qi) and restoring essence" (a Daoist cultivation practice) to Liu. Liu then dedicated himself to Daoist cultivation and passed away at the age of ninety.
