The Liu Wuming 刘无名

Liu Wuming was a native of Chengdu during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty.

He was fond of the Dao and explored profound metaphysical truths, showing no interest in fame or fortune.

When he was just a young man of around twenty (the "Weak Crown" age in ancient China, marking adulthood), he enjoyed reading The Dao De Jing and studying practices such as "swallowing vital energy" (a Taoist breathing technique), ritual prostrations, and "preserving the true essence" (a core Taoist cultivation method for spiritual refinement).

Later, he wandered across mountains and rivers, seeking out mentors to pursue the Dao.

He entered Wuzhong Mountain, where he encountered an extraordinary person who taught him the technique of taking realgar (a mineral used in Taoist alchemy) as an elixir.

He then went to Qingcheng Mountain, where he met Real Person Liu (a title for a Taoist adept who had attained spiritual perfection). Real Person Liu instructed him in the external alchemy techniques of "Yang Furnace and Yin Cauldron" (core tools in Taoist external alchemy, symbolizing the balance of Yin-Yang energies) and "tempering and refining soft metals", and also imparted to him The Scripture of the Nine Transformations of the Golden Elixir and the "Three Ranks Great Methods" (a high-level Taoist ritual system).

After successively receiving the alchemical formulas, Liu Wuming returned to seclude himself in Wuzhong Mountain. He built a chamber there to practice cultivation, and when he had fully accomplished the Dao and fulfilled his spiritual goals, he attained immortality and ascended.
