The Liu Yi 刘翊
Paul PengShare
Liu Yi was a native of Yingchuan (present-day Yuxian County, Henan Province) during the Western Han Dynasty.
His courtesy name was Zixiang (also recorded as Zixiang). Volume Two of Xuanpinlu (Records of Mysterious Rankings) states that he was fond of morality and virtue from a young age, often engaging in charitable deeds and benefiting others, yet he was not constrained by formalities.

Later, he was appointed as a Langzhong (a court gentleman) and then promoted to the position of Prefect of Chenliu. He encountered Mr. Mahuang, entered Tongbai Mountain, and was taught the Eight Arts of Concealing the Earth and the method of absorbing the essence of the Five Planets. Eventually, he attained enlightenment.
