The Liu Zhiping 刘志平

Paul Peng
Liu Zhiping was a figure of the Jin and Yuan dynasties.

His courtesy name was Xizhen, and his literary name was Mayi. He studied under Han Zhigu and became a Taoist monk. He built a thatched hut on the eastern outskirts of Dadu Road (Dadu, the capital of the Yuan Dynasty, now Beijing) and devoted himself to "zuowang" (a Taoist meditative practice of "sitting in forgetfulness" to achieve spiritual transcendence) for as long as ten years.

Zhenren Wang Qiyun (the Immortal Wang Qiyun), admiring his dedicated spiritual cultivation, paid a visit to him.

Liu Zhiping passed away peacefully at the age of 84.
