Lu Zhongfan (1087-1167) was a figure of the Song Dynasty, with the courtesy name Baozhen.
In his youth, he became a Taoist monk. After attaining mastery in Taoism, he traveled extensively to famous mountains across the country and visited many eminent Taoists and immortal practitioners. Later, he retreated to live in seclusion at Zixu Taoist Temple in Lishui, Zhejiang Province, where he devoted himself to the intensive practice of Neidan (Inner Alchemy) techniques.

He had a close friendship with He Gongcheng, who held the high official title of "Taishi" (Grand Tutor). Lu Zhongfan passed away in the third year of the Qiandao era of Emperor Xiaozong of the Song Dynasty.
