The Luo Wei 罗维

Luo Wei, a native of Zhenjiang during the Ming Dynasty, had the courtesy name Bahong and the literary name Mengjuezi (Master of Awakening from Dreams).

According to the Zhenjiang Fu Zhi (Records of Zhenjiang Prefecture), he was fond of Taoist arts from a young age. He could readily understand and master esoteric texts such as alchemical scriptures, sacred Taoist writings, and secret manuals of Taoist techniques upon reading them. He lived in seclusion in Woniushi (Snail Market) south of the city, where he practiced the cultivation of vital energy (qi) while keeping a low profile. His Taoist practice centered on the principles of "purity, tranquility, and following nature." He lived to the age of eighty-four.

Luo Wei was the author of several works, including Commentary on the Dao De Jing, Commentary on the Can Tong Qi (The Unity of the Three), and Commentary on the Wu Zhen Pian (Awakening to Reality).
