The Luo Yizhong 骆一中

The Luo Yizhong 骆一中

Paul Peng
Luo Yizhong was a native of Luojiazhuang in Qiantang (now part of Zhejiang Province) during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. His courtesy name was Shengzhe.

As recorded in Jingai Xindeng (The Lamp of the Heart at Golden Canopy): "After he converted to Taoism in his middle age, he once practiced asceticism in seclusion (facing a wall in meditation) and paid ritual homage [to Taoist deities] throughout the night. Thus, he was imparted the core tenets [of Taoism], given his current name (Yizhong), and bestowed with the Taoist coronet and robe (marking his formal ordination as a Taoist cleric).

He studied under Master Dai Tingyun, a Taoist precept master, and resided at Daixing Helin Taoist Abbey."
