The Ritual for Conducting the Luotian Grand Sacrifice

The original author is unknown.
According to research, it was compiled by Wang Qinruo of the Northern Song Dynasty by imperial order and later revised by subsequent generations. Consisting of one scroll, it is included in the Dongxuan Section (Mysterious Grotto Section) of the Daozang under the category of Rituals and Ceremonies.

The main procedures of the sacrifice recorded in this text include reciting the Spiritual Protection Incantations of the Five Directions, inviting the ranks of deities to descend, offering three rounds of sacrifices, proclaiming prayers, reading memorials, submitting petitions, and sending off the deities. The purpose of performing this sacrifice is to ward off plagues and wars. This text is believed to have been written around the same time as The Morning, Midday and Evening Rituals of the Luotian Grand Sacrifice.
