The Ma Daochang 马道常

Ma Daochang (?–1666) was a native of Sichuan Province in the early Qing Dynasty.

His original surname was Shangguan; his Taoist monastic name was Daochang, and his Taoist title was Changzhu. He practiced the teachings of the Jingming (Pure Brightness) School of Taoism, which centers on the principles of purity, enlightenment, loyalty, and filial piety.

He was skilled in calligraphy, and his works were dynamic and vivid, brimming with vitality.

In the fifth year of the Kangxi reign (1666), he composed a jiji (a short Buddhist/Taoist verse expressing philosophical insights or life reflections) and then passed away.
