The Ma Daoming 马道明

Ma Daoming lived in the early Yuan Dynasty.

He became a Taoist monk at an early age and studied under Ma Shouxiang of the Taiyi School (a major Taoist sect in the Jin-Yuan period).

He had a dignified and imposing appearance, and had a thorough understanding of the sacred Taoist doctrines. The local people admired his virtue and followed his teachings. From the age of twenty (the "Weak Crown" year in ancient China, marking adulthood), he served as the abbot of Taixuan Guan (Taixuan Taoist Temple) on Zishan Mountain. Later, he took up the posts of Tiju (an administrative official) of the local prefecture and Tidian (a supervisory official in Taoist institutions) of Taixuan Guan. After his death, he was posthumously awarded the title of "Master Xixuan Chongfu Zhen" (Master of Profound Mystery, Revered Trustworthiness and Truth) and was granted a purple robe trimmed with gold during his lifetime.
