Master Feng was a figure of the Jin and Yuan dynasties.

He was originally a scholar from the Yan-Zhao region (a historical area covering parts of present-day Hebei, Shanxi, and Henan provinces). When he traveled to Bianjing (the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, now Kaifeng in Henan Province), he encountered an extraordinary person (a hermit or Taoist with supernatural abilities) who taught him the knowledge of immortality (Taoist theories and practices for attaining immortality).

Master Feng was skilled at composing poems and songs; the ci (a classical Chinese poetic form) and qu (a traditional Chinese lyrical form) he created were noble, pure, powerful, and smooth in style.

His most well-known and handed-down work is Su Wu Man (a tune pattern for ci poetry), consisting of twenty pieces. The first ten pieces expound on the joy of withdrawing from secular life, while the last ten discuss matters related to cultivating the Tao and becoming an immortal.

Ordained at 25 after a dream from the Celestial Master, he has practiced for 25 years under Master Zeng Guangliang.
