Refers to being unmoved by grief, joy, gain, or loss.
The Zhuangzi "Great Master" chapter states: "Moreover, attainment is according to the time, and loss is following the flow. To rest in the time and dwell in the flow—grief and joy cannot enter. This is what the ancients called suspended liberation."
The meaning of Mysterious Liberation in TaoismThe human mind indulges in material desires, hanging upside down amidst grief, joy, gain, and loss. Reducing desires and cultivating the mind, then anxious concerns are completely removed—therefore it is called "suspended liberation."
