The Numinous Treasure Golden Register Invocatory Rite 金箓斋设醮仪

The compiler was originally unnamed. Judging from its content and literary style, the text was presumably composed in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties.

It is incorporated into the Ritual Norms Section of the Cavern Mystery Division of The Daozang.

The sacrificial ceremony recorded in this text was performed to invoke and descend all divine spirits, and pray for blessings on behalf of the emperor, with wishes for the boundless stability of the imperial reign, the longevity of the sage sovereign and universal peace under heaven. Its ritual proceedings include paying homage to the master with mindful invocation, reciting divine incantations, beating the ritual drums, requesting and proclaiming the ritual positions, invoking the descent of divine spirits, offering ritual observances, chanting benedictory verses, reading ritual memorials and petitions, intoning hymns for sending off the sacred deities, invoking the gods and burning incense, and other rites, all embodying the profound spiritual connotation of The Dao in imperial blessing ceremonies.
