The Numinous Treasure Golden Register Liberation Rite

The compiler is originally unrecorded. Judging from its content and literary style, it was presumably composed in the Ming Dynasty.

It is incorporated into the Ritual Norms Section of the Cavern Mystery Division of The Daozang.
This text records the imperial fasting ritual of freeing living beings, with ritual proceedings including purification of defilement, performance of Taoist rites, releasing captive creatures, reciting the Middle Scroll of the Sacred Scripture, paying homage to the quarters, and dedicating merits, among other ceremonies.

It states that all aquatic and terrestrial living creatures are born with the innate primordial ancestral qi, and all share the instinct to cling to life and abhor death, to seek benefit and avoid harm.

The emperor, embodying benevolence and cherishing all living things, holds fasting ceremonies to redeem and release captive beings, praying that they may forever escape the sufferings of living as scaled fish, shelled crustaceans, feathered birds and furred beasts, attain rebirth in a peaceful, blissful and pure realm, transform afflictions into Bodhi enlightenment, and turn to clear awakening to free themselves from the maze of delusion.

Its literary diction is evidently influenced by Buddhist doctrines, reflecting the profound integration of compassion and spiritual pursuit in The Dao.
