The Numinous Treasure Golden Register Pact-Initiating Rite

The compiler is unnamed. Judging from its content and literary diction, it was presumably composed in the Song Dynasty, and is suspected to be one of the Golden Register Fasting rituals revised and abridged by Yang Jie, Zhang Shangying and other Taoist scholars of the Northern Song Dynasty. It is incorporated into the Section of Ritual Norms under the Cavern Mystery Section of The Daozang.
This text records the Ritual of Oath-Inauguration, which was performed prior to the establishment of the Grand Golden Register Fasting, in which the High Priest and all ritual officiants took an oath and made joint vows. Its ritual proceedings include the High Priest ascending the ritual seat, performing hall-opening rites, holding incense and reciting benedictions, entering meditative tranquility, the High Priest descending the seat to lead all officiants in paying homage to the altar, as well as chanting and reciting the Four Joint Vows, among other ceremonies.
