He became a Taoist priest at an early age and was officially registered with Wanshou Palace (Longevity Palace). He studied under Taoist Master Wu Dezhen; later, he encountered an extraordinary person who taught him esoteric methods, after which he mastered the Five-Thunder Great Law and the art of talismans and incantations.
