Piao Dazhi (1852—?) was a native of Wanping County in the capital during the Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty. His courtesy name was Zhenghe, and his Taoist title was Miyuanzi.
He encountered Liu Mingrui, who practiced medicine to help the world. Observing Liu wearing a red crown and straw sandals with an extraordinary Taoist demeanor, Piao became his disciple.

Liu Mingrui taught him works including Integration of Immortals and Buddhas, Correct Theory of Wisdom and Life, Journey to the West, Awakening to Truth, Essential Guidelines for Nature and Life, as well as various sages' alchemical scriptures. Piao also studied works written by Liu Mingrui such as Subtle Essence of the Dao Origin, Qiaojiao Cave Chapters, and Explanation and Annotation on the Study of the I Ching. He mastered the essential doctrines of the Nanwu School and served as its 21st-generation patriarch.
