Praise and Ode Category

It is the eleventh category among the Twelve Categories in the Taoist scripture classification system.

Taoist Doctrine Essentials·Meaning of the Twelve Parts interprets "Zan" (praise) as expressing matters and "Song" (ode) as eulogizing virtue.

Thus, it states: "Praise and ode works include examples such as 'Five True Ones' New Odes' and 'Nine Heavens' Ancient Chapters'."

Works in this category are mostly those of hymns and eulogies, such as "Bu Xu Ci" (Void-Stepping Verses), spirit-invoking eulogies, and precious decrees of various immortals.
