Paul PengShare
Precepts Category
It is the sixth category among the Twelve Categories in the classification system of Taoist scriptures.
Taoist Doctrine Essentials·Meaning of the Ten Parts interprets "Jie" (precept) as untying, demarcating, and stopping: "It can untie the bonds of all evils, distinguish the boundary between good and evil, and prevent various evils." It interprets "Lü" (regulation) as counting, uprightness, and deterrence: "Counting sins and transgressions, being upright without injustice, and causing awe and fear."

Thus, it states: "Precepts refer to things like the six desires and ten evils." Works in this category are mostly those on commandments and religious regulations.
