Paul Peng

The Primordial Threefold Blessings Scripture FULL NAME IS

The Wonderful Fundamental Scripture of Blessings and Longevity of the Three Primordials, Revealed by the Supreme Lord to the Cave Spirits

The original text does not record the author.

According to the preface at the beginning of the scroll, this scripture was compiled and adapted by Miao Shanshi, a Taoist priest of the Yuan Dynasty, based on ancient texts, and was approximately completed in the Jiazi year of the Taiding reign period (1324).

It consists of one scroll and is included in the Scriptures of the Cave Spirits section, Original Texts category of the Daoist Canon.

The scripture is divided into six chapters.

It proclaims that the Three Primordial Emperors (i.e., the Heavenly, Earthly, and Water Officials) originated from the primordial chaos of the Supreme Ultimate, stating: “They are entrusted with governing and overseeing all realms; they patrol and examine all beings. All immortal officials, true immortals, celestial deities, earthly spirits, water goddesses, all spirits of the three realms, as well as monarchs, ministers, and all living humans—all are under their jurisdiction.” It exhorts all mortals to observe the Three Primordials’ fasts and abstinences, purify their bodies and minds, recite this scripture, reverently hold and chant the true incantations, and practice diligently. By doing so, one can eliminate disasters and sins, and prolong blessings and longevity.
