The Qian Miaozhen 钱妙真
Paul PengShare
Qian Miaozhen was a native of Jinling Commandery during the Southern Dynasties (now Wujin District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China).
She left her family to study Taoism and became a disciple of Tao Hongjing (courtesy name Tao Yinju, known as "Tao the Recluse," a renowned Taoist scholar and alchemist of the Southern Dynasties).

As recorded in Xian Yuan Bian Zhu (Pearl Compilation of the Immortal Garden) and Mao Shan Zhi (Records of Maoshan Mountain): During the Putong era of the Liang Dynasty (520–527 AD), she lived alone in a secluded cave, reciting the Huangting Jing (Yellow Court Classic, a core Taoist scripture for physical and spiritual cultivation). She resided at Yandongkou (Swallow Cave Entrance) on Maoshan Mountain for as long as thirty years.
