Qiao Zhigao (1188-1264) was a native of Jimo, Shandong Province during the Jin and Yuan dynasties.

As recorded in Records of the Longevity Palace of Real Person Qiyun Xujing, Patriarch of Chongfu Palace on Zhongyue Mountain in the Great Yuan Dynasty: Before reaching the age of twenty (the "Weak Crown" in traditional Chinese culture, a coming-of-age milestone), Qiao Zhigao studied under Qiu Chuji (Qiu Changchun) and practiced the Quanzhen School’s "cross-legged meditation without sleep" technique for nearly fifty years. He guided nearly a thousand disciples to embrace Taoism according to karmic opportunities.

Together with Li Zhenchang (a prominent Taoist master), he held the "Putiandajiao" (a grand Taoist ritual for universal blessing and salvation). His virtuous Taoist practices became known to the imperial court, and he was bestowed the title "Real Person Qiyun Xujing" (Real Person of Dwelling in Clouds and Void Tranquility).

Qiao Zhigao served as the abbot of Chongfu Palace on Zhongyue Mountain (one of China’s Five Great Mountains, also known as Songshan Mountain) for as long as thirty years. He promoted the profound essence of Taoist norms and expounded the profound mysteries of Taoist traditions.

He passed away due to illness in the first year of the Zhiyuan era (1264) at the age of seventy-seven.

His work Collected Works of Songyang has been lost and no longer survives in the world.
