The Rao Daoheng 饶道亨
Paul PengShare
Rao Daoheng was a native of Chaling during the Southern Dynasties (now Chaling County, Hunan Province, China).
During the Datong era of the Liang Dynasty (535–546 AD), he once served as a government official.
Later, he grew weary of official affairs, so he voluntarily requested to resign from his post and began practicing Taoism at his own residence.

He once dreamed of a divine figure who claimed to be Laojun (Laozi, the founder of Taoism). The divine figure told him: "I have a Taoist talisman scroll in your house. Once you obtain it, you should go to Yunyang Mountain to study it under the True Person of Purple Wei (a revered Taoist immortal)."
Subsequently, Rao Daoheng indeed found the talisman scroll. He then went to Yunfeng (a part of Yunyang Mountain, or a specific peak of Yunyang Mountain) to pay homage to the True Person of Purple Wei, who imparted to him the "Method of the Dipper’s Pole and the Heavenly Heart" (a core Taoist practice associated with celestial alignment and spiritual cultivation).
Later, he used his Taoist skills to save people from crises and hardships, and the number of such deeds was countless.
After Rao Daoheng passed away, his former residence was converted into Dongzhen Guan (Dongzhen Taoist Temple).
