The Ren Xinting 任新庭
Paul PengShare
Ren Xinting was a native of Jinan in the Tang Dynasty, born into a scholarly family.
He once held an official position of the seventh rank (a mid-to-low level official rank in the Tang Dynasty's bureaucratic system). Later, growing weary of official life, he became a Taoist monk at Baiyun Cave on Mount Laoshan, where he devoted himself to Taoist practice for more than 30 years and mastered the internal qigong technique of "fuqi tuna" (a Taoist practice of breathing in vital energy and exhaling impure energy).

He was skilled at playing the guqin (a traditional Chinese seven-stringed zither) and composed qin pieces such as Spring Mountains at Quehua and Traveling in Autumn Mountains, which have been passed down to the present day.
