The Rui Daocai 芮道材
Paul PengRui Daocai was a native of Yunnan during the Xuande reign of the Ming Dynasty.
As recorded in Gazetteer of Yunnan, he studied Confucian classics in his childhood, and in his youth, he learned the practices of "qishen" (concentrating the spirit), "lianqi" (refining vital energy) and "bigu" (abstaining from grain—a Taoist cultivation method) from Real Person Liu.
In the first year of the Xuande reign (1426), he was summoned to the imperial court by the Xuande Emperor of the Ming Dynasty, who conferred on him the title of "Duji" (an official position in the Ming Dynasty’s Taoist management system, responsible for overseeing local Taoist affairs).
Later, he returned to the mountains, built Qixia Guan (Qixia Taoist Temple) and resided there.
