The Ritual of Repentance and Atonement for the Samadhi Divine Incantation Fast of Dongyuan of the Supreme Lord
Titled "Revised and Finalized by Mr. Guangcheng Du Guangting", this text was compiled in the late Tang Dynasty.
It is a one-volume work included in the "Rituals and Ceremonies Section of the Cave Mysterious Division" of the Daozang (Taoist Canon).
The text records the Taoist ritual procedures for priests to hold fasting ceremonies and perform Taoist practices on behalf of others, as well as to recite The Taishang Dongyuan Samadhi Divine Incantation Scripture. It claims that performing this ritual can "confess and atone for sins, eliminate demons and plagues, purify families and stabilize the state, and protect the people". The ritual sequence includes paying homage to the Heavenly Venerables of the Ten Directions, repenting and reciting incantations, chanting while circumambulating, and other procedures.
