The Scripture of the Three Primes, Precepts and Rankings of the Supreme Cavern Mysterious Numinous Treasure

It is one of the ancient Numinous Treasure Scriptures of Taoism, which was roughly compiled at the end of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the beginning of the Southern Dynasties.

It had already been recorded in Lu Xiujing’s Catalogue of Numinous Treasure Scriptures.
According to research, the original version of this scripture was only one scroll. However, in the current Daozang (Taoist Canon), it is divided into two separate scriptures:

  1. The Scripture of Merits and Demerits of the Three Primes, Precepts and Rankings of the Supreme Great Dao (one scroll), which is included in the category of "Precepts and Disciplines" in the Cavern Mysterious Section;
  2. The Supreme Great Dao’s Method of Repenting Sins and Presenting Offerings According to the Three Primes, Precepts and Rankings (one scroll), which is placed in the category of "Jade Instructions" in the Cavern Mysterious Section.

Based on the quotations in The Supreme Secret Essentials, these two texts originally belonged to the same classic, though they could also circulate independently.
