The Secret Book of Verifying the Dao (Zhengdao Mishu) was compiled and edited by Fu Jinquan in the Qing Dynasty, with a block-printed edition published by Shancheng Tang (Hall of Virtuous Accomplishment).

The collection includes ten Taoist works in total, either written by Fu himself or composed by Taoist masters of previous generations. The titles of these works are as follows:
-
Dao Shu Bei Xi Lu (Records of Bei Stream from Taoist Works):"Bei Stream" refers to the stream where Fu Jinquan, who lived in seclusion, used to drink water. This work is a collection of short essays he wrote in his daily life, each titled with a two-character phrase. It covers random reflections on his life of seclusion and Taoist practice, and is divided into two volumes: Volume 1 and Volume 2.
-
Chi Shui Yin (Odes of Red Water):A collection of poems by Fu Jinquan. It is prefaced by an "Introduction," which was dated to the third year of the Daoguang reign (1823) and signed at "Liuyun Dan Room by Red Water." Evidently, this work was also named after the place where Fu resided.
-
Wai Jindan (External Golden Elixir):This five-volume work compiles treatises on external alchemy (waidan), including 23 texts such as Diyuan Zhenjue (True Secrets of the Earthly Origin) and Huangbai Jianxing (Discernment of Gold and Silver). Most of these texts were not included in the Daozang (Taoist Canon) and were presumably passed down during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
-
Nei Jindan (Internal Golden Elixir):Its full title is Tianxian Yilun Changsheng Dushi Neilian Jindan Xinfa (Immortal Discourses on the Heart Method of Internal Alchemy for Longevity and Transcending the World). It is divided into nine chapters, including Xianhou Yitian Lun (Treatise on the Unity of Heaven Before and After), Yaowu Lun (Treatise on the Elixir Ingredients), and Huohou Lun (Treatise on the Alchemical Fire Phases). The work is a compilation of statements by internal alchemy (neidan) masters throughout history.
-
Qiu Zu Quan Shu (The Complete Works of Ancestor Qiu):A collection of materials related to Qiu Chuji, including his biographies, recorded sayings, and treatises.
-
Xuanwei Xinyin (The Profound Subtlety of the Mind Seal):This two-volume work, attributed to the transmission of heart methods by Zhao Liangbi, Hu Zao, Ding Shouming, and Yu Taizhen, is a text on internal alchemy. It includes practices such as the "Sword Forging Method" and apparently advocates the theory of "dual cultivation" (a form of internal alchemy involving both spiritual and physical refinement, often associated with the cultivation of two complementary forces).
-
Sanfeng Danjue (Alchemical Formulas of Zhang Sanfeng):This work collects The Biography of Zhang Sanfeng and two internal alchemy texts traditionally attributed to Zhang Sanfeng—Jindan Jieyao (Essentials of the Golden Elixir) and Caizhen Jiyao (Key Secrets of Gathering Perfection).
-
Tianxian Zhengli Dufa Dianjing (Illuminating the Essentials for Reading The Correct Principles of Heavenly Immortals*):Written by Fu Jinquan himself, this work is an interpretation and "illumination of essentials" for the alchemical methods presented in Wu Chongxu’s (of the Ming Dynasty) Tianxian Zhengli Zhilun (Direct Discourse on the Correct Principles of Heavenly Immortals). It points out the core ideas and true meanings of Wu Chongxu’s arguments. Fu wrote the preface in the 25th year of the Jiaqing reign (1820).
-
Daohai Jinliang (A Bridge Across the Sea of the Dao):Authored by Fu Jinquan, this work provides general explanations on "entering the Dao" (mundane moral cultivation) and "attaining immortality" (spiritual transcendence) for those who seek knowledge. It centers on the principle of "dual cultivation of nature and destiny" (a key concept in immortal cultivation, referring to the simultaneous refinement of one’s spiritual essence and life force). The work also includes Fu’s annotations on texts such as Ruyao Jing (The Mirror for Entering the Elixir), Lü Chunyang’s (Lü Dongbin) Qinyuanchun (a ci-poem genre title), and poems by Shao Yong.
