The Seventeen Merciful Lights Liturgy 玉皇十七慈光灯仪

It was probably compiled during the Yuan Dynasty or the early Ming Dynasty.

Consisting of one scroll, it is included in the Weiyi (Rituals and Etiquette) category of The Dongxuan Section in the Daoist Canon.

As one of the Taoist lamp rituals, this text is used for praying for blessings and fulfilling wishes. Practitioners sequentially light precious lamps in front of the divine throne of the Jade Emperor, offer the Seventeen Compassionate Lights, perform worship and eulogy, recite the Supreme Jade Emperor's Heart Seal Sutra, and make declarations and vows, praying for the Jade Emperor to bestow blessings—"All prayers shall be answered, and no wishes shall be denied." The Seventeen Compassionate Lights mentioned in the repentance text refer to the Light of Great Spiritual Power, Light of Great Compassion, Light of Great Generosity, Light of Great Patience, Light of Great Equality, Light of Great Gentleness, Light of Great Freedom, Light of Great Benefit, Light of Great Satisfaction, Light of Great Wisdom, Light of Great Auspiciousness, Light of Great Liberation, Light of Great Refuge, Light of Great Merit, Light of Great Perfection, Light of Great Unimpededness, and Light of Unconquerable Power, etc.
