The Shan Daokai 单道开

Shan Daokai
A native of Dunhuang during the Eastern Jin Dynasty.
He preferred coarse clothing, feared neither severe cold nor intense heat, and did not sleep day or night.
He regularly ate small stones—taking a dose once a day, with several stones each time—and enjoyed living in mountainous areas. He had the ability to predict rise and decline (of individuals, families, or regimes) through divination.

As recorded in Volume 28 of Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongjian (Comprehensive Mirror of True Immortals and Practitioners Through the Ages): In the third year of the Shengping era of Emperor Mu of the Jin Dynasty (359), he traveled to the imperial capital. Later, he went to the South China Sea region, resided on Mount Luofu, and lived there until his death.
Yuan Hong of Chen Commandery, who served as the Grand Administrator of Nanhai (the South China Sea region), once wrote an essay titled "Eulogy to Daokai" to record Shan Daokai’s deeds.
Accounts of his life can be found in Jin Shu·Biographies of Occult Arts Practitioners and Luofu Tuzhi (Illustrated Records of Mount Luofu), among other historical texts.
