Shang Mingxiu (1877 – ?), a native of Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province in the late Qing Dynasty, styled Dizhai.

In his youth, he studied under Liu Yinzhong, a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations. He excelled in poetry, prose and ci poetry, and had an extensive knowledge of Confucian classics and history.

During the Boxer Uprising (1900), he went to Changping Mountain in Shandong Province and became a Taoist Priest.

After initially achieving mastery in Taoism, he traveled to Jiujiang, where he was enlightened by Chan Master Ding'an. He then became proficient in the study of Yin-Yang, divination and numerology.

He traveled around the Guanzhong area including Qinchuan and Xianyang, giving lectures on Taoism, practicing divination for a living and providing medical treatment, earning great fame for a time.

He wrote six volumes of Qishu Yuanzhen (The Primordial Integrity of Qi and Destiny), which were passed down to later generations.
