The Shangqing Great Cavern Nine Subtleties and Eight Dao Great Scripture’s Marvelous Talismans

As one of the early classic texts of the Shangqing School (Supreme Clarity School), The Shangqing Great Cavern Nine Subtleties and Eight Dao Great Scripture’s Marvelous Talismans (Shangqing Dadong Jiuwei Badao Dajing Miaolu) was probably composed around the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317–420 CE).

Originally, it served as the second half of The Supreme Three Heavens Orthodox Law Scripture (Taishang Santian Zhengfa Jing). In the version included in the Daozang (Taoist Canon), it was separated from the original work and became an independent Taoist text.
