The Shangqing Gaoshang Yuzhen Zhongdao Zongjian Baohui 上清高上玉真众道综监宝讳

Paul Peng
Shangqing Gaoshang Yuzhen Zhongdao Zongjian Baohui (The Precious Taboo Names of All Dao Lords, Supervised and Compiled by the Jade True of the Supreme Highest Shangqing). The original author is unknown.

Judging from its content, it is presumably a Shangqing Taoist text compiled during the Northern and Southern Dynasties.

It is included in the Dongxuan Section, Genealogy and Record Category of the Daozang (Taoist Canon).

The text lists the taboo names of more than ninety True Lords of Shangqing, stating that inscribing these names on a spiritual tablet can invoke gods and subdue ghosts.

It also contains one "Chaofu Talisman" (Morning Prayer Talisman) with ninety characters. It is claimed that inscribing this talisman and placing it on the door behind the bed will cure illnesses and stop ailments.
