The author of The Supreme Scripture of Shangqing on the Radiance Returning and Light Flying: The Essence of the Sun and Moon is unknown.

It is a one-volume work and included in the "Zhengyi Section" of the Taoist Canon.

The scripture contains a five-character eulogy poem, which talks about the matters of delivering souls from suffering, ascending to immortality, and traveling in the heavenly realm.

There is also a poem titled Three Separate Eulogies. Its content and writing style are similar to the poems of various immortals recorded in Volume Three of Zhen Gao (True Instructions), so it is presumably written by Taoist priests of the Shangqing School during the Six Dynasties.
