Judging from its content, it was likely written by Taoist priests of the Shangqing School during the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties.

It consists of one scroll and is included in the Taixuan Bu (Great Mystery Section) of the Daozang (Taoist Canon).

This scripture focuses on the method of contemplating the "Wuying True Youth" (cunsi "Wuying Zhengtong" zhi fa). The Wuying True Youth is one of the divine lords within the human body, and a method for contemplating this deity is also recorded in The Supreme Shangqing Great Cavern Scripture (Shangqing Dadong Zhenjing).

The practice described in this text is more detailed and clear. The scripture states that the Wuying True Youth resides within the human body: when one contemplates it, it will come; when it comes, one can journey with it, merging and transforming together. The contemplation method is as follows: close your eyes facing the sun and moon, wait quietly for the Wuying True Youth to arrive. When you see a red-purple treasure-like light with patterns of hundreds of flowers, rotating like a wheel, inhale it through your nose and channel it into the Dantian (Cinnabar Field). Let the Wuying True Youth travel inwardly within your body; after a long time, you will be able to see its form and become a true immortal of the Shangqing School.
