The Scripture of the Jade Forest in the Immortal Mansion of Shangqing
The author of The Scripture of the Jade Forest in the Immortal Mansion of Shangqing is unknown.
Judging from its content and writing style, it should have been compiled by Taoist priests of the Shangqing School during the Southern and Northern Dynasties or the Sui and Tang Dynasties.

It is a one-volume work and is included in the "Zhengyi Section" of the Taoist Canon.
This book is a compilation of more than 30 Taoist texts, including The Great Cavern Scripture, The Internal Biography of Emperor Wu of Han, Zhen Gao (True Instructions), The Secret Formula for Ascending to Immortality, and The Internal Biography of Immortal Master Ge.
Its content is relatively diverse, covering roughly the following aspects:
- The techniques of "preserving the Three (Yuan Spirits) and upholding the One (the fundamental Dao)", visualizing deities and reciting the true essence.
- The methods of swallowing the essence of the sun and moon, as well as cloud radiance.
- Records of jade palaces and immortal mansions, biographies of immortals, heavenly scripts and true texts, and the hidden names of divine beings.
Most of the Taoist texts quoted in this book are ancient works from the Six Dynasties, which can serve as references for textual emendation and the compilation of lost documents.
