Shangqing Yuanshi Gaoshang Yuhuang Jiutian Pulu (The Supreme Jade Emperor’s Nine Heavens Register of the Primordial Highest Shangqing), an early classic of the Shangqing School of Taoism, was presumably compiled during the Northern and Southern Dynasties (420–589 CE).
It corresponds to the text recorded as "Shangqing Gaoshang Yuanshi Yuhuang Jiutian Pulu" in Sandong Fengdao Kejie Yifan (Rules, Precepts, and Ritual Norms for Worshiping the Dao in the Three Grottoes).

The scripture enumerates the secret taboo names of 113 emperors residing in the Nine Heavens of the upper realm.
Each emperor is paired with a Taoist talisman, beneath which their personal name and title are specified.
For instance, under the talisman of the first emperor, it is noted that his personal name is "Hun" and his title is "Gaoshang Kongxuan Yuanshi Zhangren Daojun" (The Dao Lord of the Primordial Elder of the Highest Empty Mystery).
It is claimed that practitioners who receive and uphold this register in accordance with the teachings can "ascend to the Imperial Morning Star and soar through the Nine Heavens."
