The Shangqing Ziwei Dijun Nanji Yuanjun Yujing Baojue 上清紫微帝君南极元君玉经宝诀

Shangqing Purple Weft Emperor Lord and Southern Pole Primordial Lord Jade Scripture Precious Secret (Shangqing Ziwei Dijun Nanji Yuanjun Yu Jing Baojue), author unknown.

Judging from its content and wording, it is a classic of the Shangqing School from the Southern and Northern Dynasties.

It consists of one scroll and is included in the Yujue Lei (Jade Commentaries Category) of the Dongxuan Bu (Mysterious Grotto Section) of the Daozang (Taoist Canon).

The first half of the scripture discusses the practice of contemplating the "Twenty-Four Deities of the Eight Scenes" in the upper, middle, and lower parts of the human body—a method known as "the Dao of ascending to the Jade Purity Realm and riding the wind". It is stated that consistent practice of this method can prevent disasters from occurring and allow one to attain the status of a high immortal. The second half of the scripture is titled "Southern Pole Primordial Lord Jade Scripture Precious Secret", which focuses on the method of contemplating the deities of the sun, moon, and five planets.

The end of the text describes paying ritual respect to the divine beings of the four directions. The deities to be worshipped include the Heavenly Master (Tianshi), Female Master (Nüshi), Successor Master (Sishi), Lineage Master (Xishi), and the Three Master Lords (Sanshijun), among others.

All the above Taoist practices are techniques of contemplating deities to become immortals, practiced by the early Shangqing School.
