Shen Cheng was a native of Hangzhou during the Qing Dynasty.
He renounced secular life to practice asceticism at Chaoshan Mountain. He was skilled in creating landscape paintings, and his style was highly similar to that of Shi Tao—bold, wild, and forceful—winning much praise from people of his time.
