The Shen Jing 沈警
Paul PengShare
Shen Jing
A native of Wukang in Wuxing Commandery (now part of Zhejiang Province) during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, with the courtesy name Shiming.
As recorded in "Autobiographical Preface" of The Book of Song: His family had adhered to Wudoumi Dao (the Way of the Five Pecks of Rice, an important early Taoist school) for generations, and he studied under Du Zigong (Du Jiong).

After Du Zigong’s death, Shen Jing further studied under Sun Tai and Sun En (both key figures in Eastern Jin-era Wudoumi Dao). Xie An (a prominent Eastern Jin statesman) appointed him as a military advisor (canjun), yet Shen Jing had no interest in an official career and requested to resign on the grounds of illness.
Following the defeat of Sun En’s uprising, Shen Jing and his son Shen Mufu were both killed.
