The Shen Zongwen 沈宗文
Paul PengShare
Shen Zongwen was a native of Suzhou during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1736–1795).
His courtesy name was Yichun, and his literary name was Yutang.

From childhood, he studied the knowledge required for the imperial civil service examinations. After repeatedly failing the exams, he became a Taoist Priest at Yuanmiao Guan (Yuanmiao Temple) and studied under the Taoist master Li Xuanren.
He practiced Taoism with diligence and perseverance, and obtained the true transmission of the Zhengyi (Orthodox Unity) School of Taoism. Rituals he performed to pray for rain or clear weather were all effective, so people at that time called him the "Little Immortal".
He lived to the age of 75.
