The Shengxuan School 升玄派

The Shengxuan School is a branch of the Lingbao School. It gets its name from its belief in Taishang Dongxuan Lingbao Shengxuan Neijiao Jing (The Supreme Mystery-Penetrating Numinous Treasure Scripture of the Inner Teaching of Ascending Mystery).

After receiving the five precepts of Shengxuan, a Taoist becomes a disciple of the Shengxuan inner teaching. They are promoted step by step, receiving corresponding scriptures, precepts, and ritual tallies (fulu) until they obtain the highest-level certificate of the Shengxuan School, known as the "Supreme Ascent to Heaven Completion Certificate". After the Tang Dynasty, the Shengxuan School merged into the Lingbao School.
