The Shi He 时荷
Paul PengShare
Shi He (? - 374), a native of Julu (present-day Pingxiang County, Hebei Province) in the Jin Dynasty, styled Daoyang.
In his youth, he became a Taoist priest. He claimed that when he entered Siming Mountain, he encountered a divine being who taught him the wonderful arts of fetal breathing and other esoteric techniques. He was capable of abstaining from grains, staying awake without sleep, controlling ghosts and spirits, expelling evil demons, and transmuting metals into gold and jade.

Later, upon hearing about the essential teachings of filial piety from True Lord Xu, he joined Xu's school and was imparted with secret formulas. Afterwards, he was sent back to the mountain to pass on Taoist doctrines.
Emperor Ming of the Jin Dynasty issued an edict summoning him to the imperial court, but he declined and returned to the mountain. He passed away in the second year of the Ningkang era of Emperor Xiaowu. In the second year of the Zhenghe era of the Song Dynasty (1112), he was posthumously granted the title of "Hongshi Zhenren (True Man of Vast Benefaction)" (Source: Volume 27 of Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongjian [Comprehensive Mirror of the Dao-Practicing Immortals Through the Ages] and Records of the Supreme Lingbao Pure Brightness Religion).
