The Shi Ju 施举

Paul Peng
Shi Ju (1319-1403) was a native of Jinyun, Zhejiang, who lived during the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties.

His Taoist sobriquet was "Zixia" (Purple Clouds).

He was a registered Taoist priest of Miaocheng Temple and was famous across Zhejiang for his profound mastery of Taoist rituals and magic. The Celestial Master Zhang painted The Picture of Zixia Mountain Cottage as a gift to him, in recognition of his promotion of Taoist traditions.

He passed away due to illness in the first year of the Yongle period (1403) at the age of 85.
