Shuang Xizu
Shuang Xizu (?–627), whose courtesy name was Zhongyuan, was a native of the Wu region (now part of Jiangsu Province) during the Liang Dynasty of the Southern and Northern Dynasties.
He initially served as a Daoist priest at Nanyue Mountain (the Southern Mountain of the Five Great Mountains in China) and later moved to Jiuyi Mountain. Devoting himself wholeheartedly to the Dao, he was resolute in his commitment to reciting and studying Daoist scriptures.

He built the Huangting Temple, where he studied and recited the Huangting Jing (Yellow Court Scripture, a core Daoist text for internal cultivation) together with his disciples. Shuang Xizu passed away in the first year of the Zhenguan era of Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty (627).
Details of his life can be found in Daoxue Zhuan (Biographies of Daoist Scholars), San Dong Zhu Nang (The Pearl Satchel of the Three Grottoes), and Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongjian (Comprehensive Mirror of Real Immortals Who Embodied the Dao Through the Ages), Volume 28.
