Sima Deyi lived during the Huangqing reign period of the Yuan Dynasty (1312–1313).

He was bestowed the honorific title of "Great Master of Profound Unity, Upholding Righteousness, and Promoting Teaching" and served as a "Dharma Master of Lecturing on Scriptures at the Altar of Zhangde Circuit."
