Sima Xiu
Sima Xiu was a figure of the Tang Dynasty.
He was officially registered at Longxing Taoist Temple and once held the position of You Jianjiao Daomen Weiyi (Deputy Supervisor of Taoist Ritual Propriety, an official in charge of overseeing Taoist ritual norms and disciplinary affairs).

In the 13th year of the Kaiyuan era (725), after Emperor Xuanzong completed his Annotations on the Tao Te Ching, Sima Xiu submitted a memorial to the throne, requesting that stone steles be erected in major Taoist temples in the two capitals (Chang’an and Luoyang) and various prefectures to inscribe the scripture and its annotations. Emperor Xuanzong issued an imperial edict approving his request.
In the 21st year of the Kaiyuan era (733), he was appointed by imperial decree to serve at the Yuqing Xuantan (Jade Purity Mysterious Altar, a sacred Taoist altar for ritual ceremonies).
